Setting Up Quaddleball

Playing the Game

Object:

Keep the ball in play without allowing it to land in your QUAD!

EQUIPMENT:

4 paddles, 2 balls, 4 orange quads (7’ x 7’), 1 blue quad (3’ x 3’), 16 stakes.

Set up:

Easy set up, pre-measured quad court. Blue quad goes at the center of play area. Each orange quad connects to a corner of the center blue quad, forming a 4 square court with middle out of bounds area.

Play:

Quads are designated 1-4. Quad 1 is the TOP or serving quad, quad 4 is the BOTTOM or entry quad. The player in quad 1 serves and can serve to any other quad. Serves must go above all opponents’ heads. The ball is then live for all players but players must stay in their quad. Players can return the ball to any quad with one hit. All hits must be at a level or upward trajectory. NO DOWN HITS. If a hit is questioned, the round/serve will be replayed. If a player’s hit lands outside of or in between quads, then that player receives a strike (and moves to quad 4 or exits the game if there are 5+ players). Lines are considered in bounds.

5+ Players:

If there are more than 4 players, then players line up to enter at quad 4. Once a player on the court receives a strike, they will go to the end of the line after handing their paddle to the player entering the game. All in-game players behind the exiting player will rotate up a quad and the new player will enter the game in quad 4.

STRIKES:

Every player gets 3 strikes or “outs”. If a hit lands in your quad, you receive 1 strike. If you hit the ball out of bounds, you receive 1 strike. Once you have 3 strikes you may not enter the game again.

Win:

The game is played until all but 1 player has 3 strikes. When 3 players remain, quad 4 is left open. When 2 players are left, quad 2 &4 are left open. Play continues diagonally using quads 1 & 3. The last player standing is declared the QUADDLEBALL winner!

Alternate Game: 1v1 or 2v2

BONUS:

There is also the option of setting up the court for 1v1 or 2v2.

SET UP:

Simply connect six (6) orange straps (twice) to create two 7’ X 14’ quads. Separate them by 14’ measured by two orange straps.

HOW TO PLAY:

Take turns serving (again, above the head(s) of your opponent(s)) from your quad. Continue hitting the ball back and forth - one hit per team - in a level or upward trajectory until the ball lands.

SCORING:

One point is awarded when you hit the ball in your opponent(s) quad. Your opponent(s) score one point if you hit the ball outside of the quad. Play until one team or individual reaches 14 points. HAVE FUN!
